I started writing ANGEL CAFÉ because the characters had a story to tell, one that I was willing to listen to, write down, and believe. I never thought that the subject matter was particularly odd or unusual. There is an inherent yearning in most people for certainty, for the confirmation that good things WILL happen, no matter how dim, boring or hopeless the present may seem. And, most of us believe that there is more to our reality than the tangible world we inhabit. Is there really anybody who hasn’t experienced a sense of déjà vu, who hasn’t had an eerily accurate dream, or a premonition of something that actually happens? We all have the ability to tap into a greater whole.

Problem is, that’s not necessarily a good thing. Sure, fortune-telling and channeling feel somehow empowering. They provide us with definite answers that make us feel special as they lift us out of the daily drudge. But just because you tap into unseen stuff doesn’t mean you’ve tapped into something good. Who knows what you’ve reached? And any methodology that takes away responsibility for your own choices has the potential to rob you of free will and set you up for evil. "Psychic" doesn’t always mean "enlightened". "Spirit" needs to be aligned with God and Light if you want to stay safe.

I believe we are spiritual people. I also believe it’s hard to remember that when you lead the busy, hectic lives that most of us lead. It takes work to recall that we are children of God, and then to accept the responsibility that comes with that realization. It’s not always easy. But, ultimately, it’s always rewarding.

I look forward to writing the rest of Kat and Stephen’s story; I hope you’ll read it!
